In fast-growing and/or large complex organisations, complexity rarely arrives all at once. It builds slowly—through small sparks: a missed handoff, a vague project brief, a process re-invented yet again.
These are weak signals—subtle signs that something is misaligned. Individually, each one is manageable. But together, they begin to link up. Sparks become embers. Embers become fires. And soon, the organisation is no longer dealing with isolated problems, but with something systemic: a firestorm of complexity.
